real life revisited

I’ve spent the last two days trying to make some progress on a job, work that should have been done during these two plus weeks we have been here at the country house.  Well, yes, there were holidays and granchildren visits and unnecessary trips into the city because I couldn’t remember all the stuff I needed and some actual work.  And even a few days where I...gasp...relaxed without guilt!

But all that comes to a screeching halt tomorrow when we close up the house, pack the truck and head back to the city.  Ugh.  I do not want to go back.  I want my shop built and the glass we are expecting on Tuesday to be delivered here.  Here.

Sigh.

Winter will not let go it’s grasp.  Next Friday, the weather prognosticators predict temps in the 20s.  Maybe even another snowfall.  That will be unprecedented and I am in no mood for new winter records. I can endure cold for short periods.  I am not prepared for prolonged cold.  

We don’t currently have gas at the city house.  The gas company finally came while we have been gone and hooked our meter up to the new line and in doing so they have disconnected the house.  We have to have an ‘official’ in the house to make sure all is in good working order.  Hopefully, they can get someone out while we are ‘in residence’.

The new year generally finds me behind and this year has been no exception.  One of the many reasons I try not to plan too far into the future.  But, you know how people are, they want to pin you down.  And I like to please.
