Keep on keepin' on

Politicians make my ass burn. You know, back in the 1970's Dick Nixon used to refer to the silent majority. That silent majority included most of us. We might not have liked the war in Vietnam but we were not out in the streets protesting it..hell it was all most of us could do to make a living and we didn't have time to protest or get too actively involved with politics. We were not part of the religious right wing although many had some deep religious values. But we also were not part of the radical left wing. We were just people who wanted the country to 'keep on keepin'on' and provide us with the freedom to work and take care of our families. Our voices were heard at the polls just as Nixon figured they would be.

Looks like it is that time again..time for the silent majority to speak up at the polls. I am not crazy about most of the ones running for office in Florida. The GOP has one real loser in Katherine Harris who says it will be a sin if I don't vote for a Christian..namely her. The democrat incumbent is a light weight who hasn't done much harm but he ain't done any good either. But there is a couple of independents that might get my vote.

I figure the GOP incumbents in the House will probably win in Florida and it looks like the state will stay in GOP control..I don't know if that is good or bad. It will be good on the pocketbook but the GOP has this reputation for being in the hip pocket of the developers who could really give a gotdam about trying to protect what's left of pristine Florida. But then again the socialist democrats want to raise taxes at damn near every level so they can waste more money on social programs. Damn...what a choice.

I am ready for a third part to step up and get some attention. I was hoping that maybe there were enough of us of the neo libertarian persuasion to form a viable third party but that doesn't seem to be the case..at least here in Florida. But I reckon I can just keep hopin'. In the meantime we in the silent majority will just 'keep on keepin on'.
