An Overnight Stay in Hospital?

Blimey, I've had a week of it!
I know, I know, I shouldn't moan - after all I have a roof over my head, I'm warm and fed and I didn't have to walk miles to get clean water today like others have to in other countries....
But
I have had one of those weeks, you know?

It started last Sunday when I woke up in the early hours with nasty gut pains.
I carried on as usual, as best I could - we even went out for a gentle walk, but by mid-afternoon the pain had increased and in the early evening Man Wonderful decided I needed to see a doctor.
Following a phone call to 911 we were advised to go to A&E so we did, and I received superb help, advice and support; and although it was six hours to see a doctor, I saw a nurse straightaway.  I had blood tests taken, the pain was vile and I was given morphine.
The doctor checked through the test results and decided I needed to see the surgical team, so I spent Sunday night on the surgical ward.
However by the time the surgeon came around the next morning, the pain had subsided.
All I wanted to do was go home.
So I came home later that day with a referral for an ?endoscopy? next week.

This week it's been tender and rebuilding my strength.

Strange.

I hadn't eaten anything different - I have lost weight over the last couple of months, but that is deliberate - I eat the same things most days.
I didn't feel ill in any other way, so not like a virus.

What do you think it was/is?
